Serie A midfielder offered to Barcelona on free transfer

Barcelona have made a habit of signing players on free transfers in recent years, and yet this year, Sporting Director Deco has not gone down that path. At least not yet, with a familiar name linked with a move to the Blaugrana on a free.

According to Jijantes, as carried by Sport, Adrien Rabiot’s mother and agent has offered the French international to the club once again. After his contract at Juventus expired without an agreement, Rabiot’s demands are €8m per season in order to sign on the dotted line. La Vecchia Signora are still trying to retain Rabiot, and Barcelona are unlikely to fork out such a large salary for a player that appears not to be high on their list of priorities.

While Rabiot is a quality option, he would not contrast Barcelona’s current options in midfield sufficiently in all likelihood. They have plenty of quality in the middle of the pitch, the issue is that none of them excel as the deepest midfielder in a three or a two.
