Inter are forced to completely reshuffle amid an injury crisis, so Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi start against Filip Stankovic’s Venezia.
It kicks off at the Stadio Penzo at 14.00 GMT.
It was a rough start to 2025 for the Nerazzurri, who fumbled a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 against rivals Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana Final in Riyadh on Monday.
Injuries continue to pile up, as Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Yann Bisseck, Francesco Acerbi and Joaquin Correa did not make the trip to Venice.
Marcus Thuram and Benjamin Pavard are not fully fit either, so Taremi partners Lautaro Martinez, with Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani forming an all-new midfield partnership.
Venezia seem to be turning their campaign around after a 2-2 draw with Juventus, 2-1 victory over Cagliari, very tight 1-0 loss to Napoli and 1-1 with Empoli.
Some of that is thanks to the performances of goalkeeper Stankovic, the son of Inter hero Dejan and currently on loan from the Nerazzurri.
Alfred Duncan, Domen Crnigoj and Michael Svoboda are out of action, with Gaetano Oristanio – another Inter youth product – carrying a knock, but starting anyway.
