Serie A line-ups: Empoli vs. Inter
Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram lead the way as Inter visit a surprisingly difficult to break down Empoli in the wake of the 4-4 thriller with Juventus.
It kicks off at the Stadio Castellani at 17.30 GMT.
The Nerazzurri couldn’t help but feel frustrated when fumbling a 4-2 lead to draw 4-4 with Juve in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday.
Hakan Calhanoglu, Carlos Augusto, Francesco Acerbi and Tajon Buchanan are still out of action, but Nicolo’ Barella becomes the playmaker alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Davide Frattesi.
There are a few adjustments, including Matteo Darmian and Yann Bisseck coming in, with Piotr ZIelinski on the bench.
Empoli have been one of the surprises of the season, unbeaten in the opening six rounds, then losing only by one goal to both Lazio and Napoli.
That defeat to the Partenopei is also the only goal they conceded on home turf.
Sebastiano Esposito is still injured along with Samuele Perisan, Saba Sazonov and Tyronne Ebuehi.
Italy Under-21 international Jacopo Fazzini therefore supports Lorenzo Colombo upfront with Ola Solbakken and New Zealand’s Liberato Cacace.
Empoli: Vasquez; Goglichidze, Ismajli, Viti; Gyasi, Maleh, Anjorin, Fazzini, Cacace; Solbakken, Colombo
Inter: Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, M Thuram
