Serie A: dates of Inter and Milan postponed games disclosed after UCL draw
Inter, Fiorentina, Bologna and Milan all have a game to spare in Serie A and the dates of such fixtures are expected to become official after the Champions League knockout phase play-off draw on Friday.
Bologna’s home clash with Milan and Inter’s away fixture at Fiorentina were initially due to be played in October and December, respectively, but ended up being postponed, albeit for very different reasons.
Lega Serie A decided to call off the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara meeting one day before it was supposed to take place, on October 26, after the Bologna mayor announced the arena would not be available due to extreme flooding in the Emilia Romagna region in the previous days.
On the other hand, the match between Fiorentina and Simone Inzaghi’s side was interrupted 17 minutes into the first half after Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch. He was rushed off on a stretcher and taken to the ambulance in the tunnel.
Serie A: when Bologna vs Milan and Fiorentina vs Inter could be rescheduled
As a result, all four teams remained with one game in hand for the weeks that followed, but Calciomercato.com explains that the matches are now near to being officially rescheduled, as the upcoming Champions League draw will determine the available slots for them.
Inter have secured a straight pass for the competition’s last-16, meaning they will have plenty of room to play the remaining 73 minutes of their match at Fiorentina, with the Lega Serie A reportedly pushing for the closest possible date, which would be on February 6.
With the Rossoneri forced to go through the knockout play-off phase, it could prove trickier to find an available slot for their clash against Bologna, but Lega Serie A is reportedly confident about rescheduling it on February 26.
