kicker reports that Serhou Guirassy could be in Borussia Dortmund’s squad to face Heidenheim in the Bundesliga this Friday.

The former VfB Stuttgart striker has been out with a knee injury which he suffered in the final international break of last season with Guinea. The problem was only picked up in his medical before joining Dortmund and had even put the move in doubt.

However, just before the international break, Guirassy returned to team training and has been slowly increasing his workload to get himself match-fit over the two-week break. This now means that the 28-year-old can potentially make his debut for Dortmund on Friday evening against Heidenheim.

The return of Guirassy will also help Dortmund’s style of play. Since the beginning of the season, head coach Nuri Sahin has had to deploy both Karim Adeyemi and Maximilian Beier as the sole striker but it has not worked in games against Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen. Both would be better playing off of a striker that is similar to Guirassy.
