Sergi Roberto’s Barcelona future up for debate: Will he stay or go?
Given Barcelona’s current period of transition, with a new manager, their stadium a construction site and a sizable rift forming between themselves and rivals Real Madrid, it is natural that not everyone will come away unscathed.
This summer will likely dictate Barcelona’s future for years to come, and one player in particular still doesn’t know whether this new look Barcelona will have a place for him or not.
The player in question is Sergi Roberto, who according to Diario Sport is still in an uncertain place regarding whether he will stay at the Catalan club beyond this summer.
Under Xavi’s leadership, it looked likely the club captain had a place beyond the summer transfer window, but with Hansi Flick now at the helm, things aren’t as clear cut.
As of Monday, Sergi Roberto will become a free agent, and his representatives will be free to negotiate with any club that comes knocking.
There will likely be ongoing negotiations as we speak in order to clarify where the club and player stand, but as things are right now, Roberto seems to be further out the door than he has ever been during his fourteen years at the club.
