Senators Prospect Scores Two In Rangers' Shutout Victory

The Kitchener Rangers rounded out their week with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Sarnia Sting, which featured a pair of goals by Ottawa Senators prospect Luke Ellinas.

After a scoreless first, Kitchener exploded during the second period scoring three goals in an eight-minute span.

Ellinas recorded the first goal of the game by firing a shot from near the goal line that wormed its way through Sarnia goaltender Mick Surzycia. His second goal came seven minutes later on a shot taken with his stick between his legs.

From there, the Rangers didn't look back, notching three more goals to run away with the victory over Sarnia. New addition and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jack Pridham scored a goal and added two assists in the contest.

The Senators drafted Ellinas in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-1 forward scored 16 goals and tallied 17 assists for a total of 33 points. He added five goals and three assists in 10 playoff games last season.

So far this season, he has 11 goals and three assists for a total of 14 points. If he maintains his current pace he will end the season with an impressive 36 goals and 10 assists.

While his goalscoring has been good this season, Ellinas is also known for playing a strong two-way game. He finds himself in only his second OHL season after spending the 2022-23 season in the OJHL playing for the North York Rangers.

Ellinas and the Rangers currently sit at the top of the Western Conference having lost just six games this year. They have a date with the London Knights on Tuesday that will have enormous repercussions for the Western Conference Standings.
