Senators General Manager Reportedly Planned To Meet Brady Tkachuk Over Rangers Trade Rumor
On Friday Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported that the New York Rangers have made Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk their primary target.
These rumors did not boil over too well with Senators general manager Steve Staios.
“Rangers GM Chris Drury may have some explaining to do to the Senators organization due to this talk,” Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen wrote. “Staios won’t be the least bit pleased to hear Tkachuk’s name floating around out there. It’s believed Staios planned to have a conversation with Tkachuk to reiterate there is absolutely nothing to this.”
Garrioch writes that a source called the Tkachuk report “garbage.”
This all comes after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the Rangers have been talking with the Senators regarding a trade.
However, TSN’s Darren Dreger claims there is nothing going on between the Rangers and Senators.
Staios also denied any rumors that he is looking to trade Tkachuk over the offseason.
“Complete B.S.,’’ Staios said in May of rumors involving Tkachuk. “We are building this team around Brady. His leadership and unique skill set are rare. There is absolutely no validity to it.”
There are a lot of conflicting reports on the communication between the Rangers and Senators, so it’s hard to really know what to believe at the moment.
