Kelly Ripa shared a photo of Mark Consuelos’ newly shaved head on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
She also shared her thoughts on his decision to get the hair cut.
“Now he’s cold all the time,” she quipped.
The United States is experiencing a serious heat wave right now, with a bulk of the country expecting temperatures to surpass 90 degrees just this weekend, per the National Weather Service. And in an effort to stay as cool as possible, Mark Consuelos did what many people do in the summer—he shaved his head. And his wife, Kelly Ripa, has some thoughts about it.
Ripa shared the hair update with viewers on Tuesday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, and it turns out, Consuelos was relying on his thick head of hair more than he realized. “Everybody’s been complaining about the heat, the heat, the heat, and Mark shaved his head the other day. And now he’s cold all the time,” Ripa said, sharing a “smizing” selfie Consuelos took post-haircut with the audience.
“I asked him for a picture because we were doing a story about the heat, and I was like, well, Mark’s not hot, he shaved his head and now he’s cold all the time,” she pointed out. Ripa’s co-host, Ryan Seacrest, said he didn’t realize how much hair the Riverdale star had before, but Ripa assured him that the shave was a pretty drastic change, adding that it’s “silky, but it’s thick” when grown out.
And while the new ’do may be keeping Consuelos cool when he’s in the hot sun, being bald-ish in air-conditioning—especially in his and Ripa’s bedroom, which they keep pretty frigid—feels like a whole new world. “Now, he’s like, ‘Is it cold in this bedroom?’ And I go, ‘Yes, for 25 years—27 years, it’s been cold in the bedroom, and now, you’re suddenly willing to cut the air-conditioning in half so that we may be able to sleep through the night,’” Ripa said. “Instead of me waking up cold, now he’s cold. But all he has to do is put a hat on.”
Thankfully, the couple’s recent adventurous vacation to Colorado and Utah prepared them for this little spat. Upon their return, Ripa shared a photo of the pair rock climbing in Colorado, captioning it, “Couples therapy 🧗♀️🧗♂️.”
“As it turns out, we had the time of our lives. There was some work involved in this trip but that’s not what we were doing,” she said on Live With Kelly and Ryan. “We went to the Amangiri [resort], out in Utah. It is luxury.”
The trip marked their first one as empty nesters without their three kids, Michael, 25, Joaquin, 19, and Lola, 21.
