Sebastian Aho Sets Another Franchise Record
When Sebastian Aho finally decides to retire, he will be the greatest player in Carolina Hurricanes history.
That's a bygone conclusion in my eyes because at 27, he's already one of the greatest and he's added yet another franchise record under his belt.
"He's going to be the franchise leader in everything when it's all said and done and he should be," said Hurricanes coach and also franchise icon Rod Brind'Amour. "He's going to be the best player that's played here."
After scoring the game-winning goal in tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Aho set the new franchise benchmark with 58 throughout his career, surpassing Ron Francis' 57.
Most Game-Winning Goals, Hurricanes History:
Sebastian Aho - 58
Ron Francis - 57
Eric Staal - 47
Jeff O’Neill - 38
Kevin Dineen - 37

"That's special obviously," Aho said. "Having my name next to that kind of legend and in the same sentence is special. Obviously everyone knows what he did for the game and how good of a player he was. Obviously I've probably done something right to be able to at least be in the same sentence as that guy. Hopefully a lot, lot more to come."
The Finnish centerman also holds the franchise record for shorthanded goals (17) and playoff scoring: goals (27), assists (43) and points (70).
In terms of regular season stats, Aho sits third in goals (258 compared to 382), assists (314 compared to 793) and points (572 compared to 1,175).
Every year, the Canes' franchise icon will continue to climb the record books and I'm certain he'll be standing alone at the top when all is said and done.
