The Seattle Kraken placed Daniel Sprong on NHL waivers, the team announced on Wednesday.

Within the next 24 hours, NHL teams have a chance to claim him. Otherwise, he'll be sent down to the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The right winger has played 10 games with the Kraken this season, recording one goal and one assist. He averages just over 12 minutes of ice time per season.

He hasn't featured for the Kraken since Dec. 28, when he provided an assist in a 5-4 overtime win against his previous team, the Vancouver Canucks.

In the off-season, Sprong signed a one-year, $975,000 deal with the Canucks. After scoring three points in nine games, the Canucks traded him to Seattle on Nov. 8 for future considerations.

This is Sprong's second tenure with the Kraken after the Washington Capitals previously traded him to Seattle in 2022.

Sprong's played 92 games for the Kraken, scoring 28 goals and 54 points. In the 2022-23 season, the 27-year-old scored 21 goals and 46 points in 66 games, a career best.

Sprong has signed a one-year contract in three straight seasons. The last time he played with the comfort of a multi-year deal was with the Capitals when he signed in 2020.

He has been traded four times in his career, the first time from the team that drafted him 46th overall in 2015, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sprong hasn't played in the AHL since the 2019-20 season with the Washington Capitals' affiliate, the Hershey Bears. He played five games and recorded six points.
