Seattle Kraken beat Dallas Stars, force Game 7 of Western Conference semifinals

The Dallas Stars’ season is on the line on Monday night.

After falling 6-3 to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night, the Western Conference semifinal series comes down to Game 7 at the American Airlines Center. The game begins at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Jordan Eberle scored twice for the Kraken, including a power play goal with 16:46 left in the first half that pushed Seattle ahead 2-1. The Kraken did not trail the rest of the way as they bounced back from losing the previous two games.

“It’s a tough time of the year to beat any team three games in a row,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “We won Game 4 and won Game 5. That’s a big ask. The reason you play all season is to have home ice for a Game 7 like this. We’ve earned that and hopefully we’ll use that to our benefit.”F

Mason Marchment’s goal midway through the first period tied the game at 1-1. However, Eberle scored on assists from Eeli Tolvanen and Jared McCann.

The Kraken then extended their lead to 4-1 when Tolvanen and Tye Kartye scored early in the second period. With the three-goal edge, the Kraken coasted to the Game 6 victory.

Joe Paveleski added his eighth goal of the series later in the second period and Joel Kiviranta added his first goal of the series in the third period.

“We were ready tonight. I feel like last couple games they’ve been maybe the ready team at the start,” Tolvanen said. “That was the big key today. All four lines were ready to play.”

Seattle’s Philipp Grubauer stopped 20 shots.

Jake Oettinger was pulled early in the second period after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Scott Wedgewood played the rest of the way, stopping nine of 10 shots.
