Season Two Has Been Like Knight And Day For Boston's Captain

Captain and Boston Fleet returner, Hillary Knight has made a statement this season, scoring both of the teams goals.

The 5-foot-11 forward is no rookie to professional hockey having played previously for the Boston Pride, Boston Blades, Montreal Canadiennes, and as a member of the PWHPA, and being one of the first players to sign with the Fleet.

Knight played 24 games last season with the Fleet, totaling six goals and five assists. However she didn’t score her first goal until in the sixth game of the 2023-24 season.

She is already on track to beat that record, having scored one goal in each of the two games the Fleet have played thus far.

The Boston Fleet’s offense has struggled this season. As the sole goal scorer for the team this season, Knight said there are things to work on.

“We're just trying to go north with the puck. We were kind of playing hot potato out there for a good first and second period. We need to get out of our zone, get more people in the offensive zone, and put more pressure on them,” she said.

Despite the loss, Knight made the night special for everyone on the team. Along with the other captains, she requested that the whole team dress for the home opener and player introductions. This included the active players, reserves, and healthy scratches.

“Everyone on our roster, whether it's active or not active, is part of this team. We win championships with that team,” Knight said. “It's really important that everyone celebrated that moment."

The Fleet were welcomed by their home crowd at Tsongas Center Wednesday night. This time with a new logo and a team name.

“It was special to be a part of the identity and part of the legacy we want to build here in Boston. We've got great fans, and we really want to win in front of our fans,” Knight said.

The goals for the future are clear for Knight.

“A name's a great start, but a championship here, in city of Boston, is instrumental to being a part of that storied Boston legacy.”
