Sean McVay gives ringing endorsement of Bears interim HC Thomas Brown
The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus on Friday and promoted offensive coordinator Thomas Brown to interim head coach. And one of Brown's former colleagues is singing his praises.
Before he spent one year with the Carolina Panthers and this current season in Chicago, Brown had spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay. During his time with the Rams, Brown began as the running backs coach, then would receive promotions over this three years, including moving to tight ends coach and assistant head coach under McVay.
With the news of Brown's second promotion in less than three weeks for the Bears, and now the interim head coach, McVay shared plenty of thoughts on his former assistant coach. The comments that stand out the most from McVay on Brown is how he believes his former assistant will get people around him, meaning the team, to follow his lead.
"He kind of demands respect from people he's around just by the way that he carries himself," McVay said. "But he's going to attack it. I think guys will follow his lead. In this profession you just have such an appreciation for how challenging it is, how difficult, how olatile. And I think he's going to do a great job."

It is very much a ringing endorsement from McVay, one of the most well-respected coaches in the NFL. Given how destroyed the Bears locker room was as Eberflus was being fired, if Brown can bring it back together and find some success in the win column, he'll have made an impact to give some real consideration to earning the permanent head coaching job.
