Sean Avery shares his harsh stance on Islanders fans
While John Tavares was dealing with a one-way verbal onslaught in his return to Uniondale on Thursday night, fans of the Maple Leafs, Islanders, and other interested parties connected to the hockey community were exchanging barbs on Twitter and other various platforms on social media.
Nothing of substance came out of the back-and-forth bickering, of course, which made it not unlike any other form of online discord.
Which fanbase has it worst? Who deserves to be angry? What’s the best way to channel negative energy? What are the acceptable levels with which to protest?
These worthless questions will remain unanswered far beyond JT’s next visit to Long Island.
If anything, however, was cleared up in the aftermath of one of the most entertaining hockey games in recent memory for the sole reason that the 60 minutes themselves were enhanced by the collective anger of a group of fans, it is former NHL agitator Sean Avery’s stance on those supporters.
Avery didn’t mince words in a series of stories posted to Instagram on Friday.
(Be warned: this is not remotely safe for work).

I’m just disappointed he didn’t manage to work in a “Fatso” during that rant.
