Sean Avery Makes Bold Statement About Peter Laviolette and K’Andre Miller

Former New York Rangers forward Sean Avery has some strong opinions about the state of the franchise.

The Rangers are in the midst of a horrible stretch as they've lost 13 out of their last 17 games and their play continues to deteriorate.

Whether it’s Peter Laviolette’s fault or not, Avery believes that it’s time for the Rangers to fire Laviolette with the team’s struggles reaching a boiling point.

"I'd fire him today,” Avery said. “Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. You have to, you have to, guys. In a big market like that, Eastern Conference Finals last year were that close. It starts. Unfortunately, that's part of it. Yeah, the coach goes first, but that's where I get nervous.

“The coach goes, then who goes? Then, then who do you bring in? The whole system is broken, and the iPads on the bench. What do you want to see? You want to watch your release point on that one like, 'I need you in the game, fellas.”

Laviolette is in his second season of a three-year contract with the Rangers. He’s coming off of a year where he helped propel New York to win the Presidents’ Trophy while going all the way to the Eastern Conference Final.

This season has not been as kind to Laviolette and the Rangers. The Bueshirts have lost their identity and things seem to only be getting worse.

Meanwhile, multiple Rangers players find themselves in trade rumors including Chris Kreider, Ryan Lindgren and Reilly Smith.

Avery feels that K’Andre Miller is the guy the Rangers should attempt to shop before the season’s end.

“As far as K'Andre, you got to move him now," Avery said. "You got to move him now, while he has trade value, it's not going to work out…So, if you're running the team, if you're managing that org chart, and you're also trying to stay in it, you move him now.”

If these struggles don’t stop, Rangers general manager Chris Drury will have some big decisions to make about the future of the organization.
