Seahawks to interview Bears' Thomas Brown for offensive coordinator

The Chicago Bears are in the thick of their head coach search, which includes 16 (and counting) candidates, including interim head coach Thomas Brown, who took over for Matt Eberflus in the final five weeks. But Brown is also garnered interest for another job.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Seattle Seahawks are set to interview Brown for their vacant offensive coordinator job after parting ways with Ryan Grubb after one season. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the interview will be Saturday.

Brown started this season as passing game coordinator before he was promoted to offensive coordinator following Shane Waldron's firing on Nov. 12. Brown helped kickstart Chicago's offense and quarterback Caleb Williams with three impressive outings against division foes Green Bay, Minnesota and Detroit (despite them all being losses). When Eberflus was fired after a Thanksgiving disaster against the Lions, Brown was promoted to interim head coach.

Unfortunately, Brown struggled to rein in a team that was in the middle of a six-game losing streak after a 4-2 start. Brown went 1-4 in his interim head coach tenure. Still, general manager Ryan Poles said Brown will get a formal interview for the Bears' head coach vacancy.

While Brown is unlikely to get the job, it's not surprising that he's drawing interest for offensive coordinator vacancies.
