Paolo Scaroni was at the Monumental Cemetery in Milan this morning where the tomb of Herbert Kilpin – the founder of AC Milan – was moved to the crypt of the Famedio.

The Englishman used to have a tomb that was outside, but now he has been placed together with all the most important figures in the history of the city of Milan.

On Sunday, Milan will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its foundation and in the match against Genoa the players will wear a special shirt. Among the details of the uniform, there is the presence of a badge that pays homage to the first official emblem of the club.

This dates back to the formation in 1899 as Milan Football & Cricket Club, a nod to Kilpin who – as an Englishman – brought his cultural heritage over and founded the club.

It must also be noted that today is the ‘unofficial’ day of Milan’s founding, given some records have 13 December 1899 as the date, even if the official birthday is 16 December.
