Scaroni goes against Fonseca’s rant at officials: “Referees are always right by definition”
Paolo Scaroni has provided his take on the refereeing incidents during Friday night’s defeat against Atalanta, and they do not exactly back Paulo Fonseca up.
Fonseca pointed the finger at referee Federico La Penna for his officiating during the game, stating that he got the decision to award Charles De Ketelaere’s goal wrong because he had pushed Theo Hernandez in the back.
A report yesterday suggested that the Milan management are standing with the Portuguese over his comments and were happy for him to highlight the errors made. This morning, it emerged that he might admit to the FIGC Prosecutor that he was out of line in a sort of ‘plea bargain’ situation.
In doing so, he would be much more likely to avoid having to serve a touchline ban, instead most likely having to pay a fine. Nonetheless, his statements were strong and this will be taken into account.
Scaroni spoke to reporters upon his arrival at the offices of the Lega Serie A and he was asked for his thoughts on De Ketelaere’s goal being allowed to stand.
“That is something that the referee decides. I never give my opinion on what the referees decide. Referees are always right by definition,” he said (via MilanNews).
