Saudi Arabia move for Arsenal 31yo played down
The Public Investment Fund are yet to hold any talks with Thomas Partey and there have been no offers from Saudi Arabia, according to a report.
Despite recent reports of interest in Thomas Partey from Saudi Arabia, James Benge of CBS Sports suggests there’s very little to the links so far.
Speaking to the Charles Watts YouTube channel, Benge suggested that Partey currently intends to stay at Arsenal, and he hasn’t held any exit talks.
“From what I understand about Thomas Partey’s situation, he intends to stay for the final year of his contract,” Benge said.
“Everyone talks about Saudi Arabia – there’s been no conversations with PIF so far and no offers from any other Saudi clubs.”
Fabrizio Romano had recently claimed that there’s been interest in Partey from Saudi Arabia since last summer, though he did add that nothing concrete was happening yet.
At the time, Romano wrote that Saudi clubs were still waiting to learn their summer budgets, and there wouldn’t be any movement on Partey’s case until those budgets are approved.
Yet almost a month later, there have seemingly still not been any negotiations or even informal talks with the midfielder.
Charles Watts previously reported that Arsenal are open to offers for Partey this summer, with the club holding no talks over a contract extension and a growing belief that they’ll try to move him on this window.
Yet Arsenal’s desire to sell Partey has seemingly come into conflict with the player’s own wishes, with Watts reporting that the midfielder wants to stay for the final year of his contract.
