Saskatchewan Roughriders sign former NFL quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan

REGINA - The Saskatchewan Roughriders added some veteran talent under centre Thursday, signing former NFL quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan.

The 32-year-old played with ten teams over nine seasons in the NFL. He was named the San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback heading into the 2008 season, completing 128-of-220 passes for 1,678 yards and eight touchdowns.

O'Sullivan also threw 11 interceptions, fumbled 11 times and was sacked 32 times in starting eight games.

A sixth-round pick of New Orleans in 2002, the six-foot-two, 232-pound O'Sullivan threw for 1,866 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 39 rushing attempts for 145 yards in his NFL career.

The former University of California-Davis quarterback finished his Divison 2 college career with 10,745 yards passing and 94 touchdowns.

The Riders also added three defensive backs Thursday, signing Macho Harris, Talmadge Jackson and T.J. Rushing.

Harris was a fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2009, starting 15 games for the club at free safety that season. The 26-year-old finished his rookie campaign with 43 combined tackles and two passes defended. Harris has also spent time with the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jackson, 23, has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and was most recently on the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Rushing was a seventh-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2006. The 28-year-old return specialist totalled 1,300 combined return yards during his NFL career, including a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown versus Oakland in 2007. He won Super Bowl 41 with Indianapolis.

The Roughriders also announced they have released the following import players: quarterback Matt Johnson, offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg, linebacker Alvin Bowen, defensive back Jamaal Fudge, defensive back Justin Wilson and defensive line Dario Romero.
