Sarah Michelle Gellar’s wet-look bob is the most bad ass hairstyle we've seen

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, season six, episode 11: a moment in time that'll forever be engrained in my memory – a cultural reset, if you will. And in case you have no idea what I'm referencing, this was when Buffy Summers [dramatically] cut her own hair... *war flashbacks*. Though, IMO, it made TV history. This was the golden age, folks.

Now, while Buffy may be a character, Sarah Michelle Gellar who plays the fictional slayer is very much real and she's even managed to carry the short hair legacy into the 21st century.

Just a few months ago [January, 2023], the star debuted a very on-trend shaggy wolf cut, shortly followed by a blunt bob (see further below). And now, coming to us via her recent cover shoot for L’Officiel Fashion Book, is a Matrix-style hairdo. Enter: The wet look bob.

Taking to the 'Gram to debut her hairstylist, Marc Mena's work, Sarah posted two main feed pics. The first of which she is sporting her new classic, the side parted 'S' wave bob and the second, a no-part oil slick 'do.

The inherent coolness of the slicked-back hairstyle makes it seem as if Sarah has simply stepped out of the shower. However, this undone style is anything but effortless as one would assume Marc has used copious amounts of hair gel to keep the flyaways at bay. The art is arting.

Now, as previously mentioned, this lewk isn't the first of SMG's bob styles to sweep us off our feet.

In a snap shared just a few weeks ago, Sarah wrote: "Got my summer cut… all ready for the holiday weekend. Don’t forget.. today is the one day it’s acceptable to tell people “C U Next Tuesday” 😝." LOL.

Per the above glam selfie, the actor had the end-lengths of her already short bob trimmed as well as styled in a loose waved side part.

To compare, let's take a look at her shoulder-length chop circa a few months back:

In April, Sarah took to the 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and even shared some of her very own at-home snaps, pre-red carpet. As we can see in the above carousel post, the actor's locks were styled dead straight, showing the cut to sit perfectly at shoulder-length.

Celebrity hairstylist, Ryan Richman was the genius behind Sarah's OG cut. For the almost chin-length style, Ryan opted for a softly preened wave that not only looks effortlessly chic but also shows that wavy, curly hair isn't just for the long-lock girlies.

Sarah is one of many to follow in the footsteps of Hailey Bieber, Zendaya, Emma Stone and even Emily Ratajkowski. So, now with Sarah in on the trend, it seems the bob girl gang is only growing.

Who will be next to join this iconic group of women and their cropped hair? Keeping all eyes peeled...
