So let us recognize the lessons learned during our time together, knowing that we are capable of overcoming anything in our way.”

On a more serious note, Lemon thanked fellow students, the faculty and family.

“I would especially like to express my gratitude for our principal Mr. Overton, our counselor Mrs. Thompson, and also my parents Beth and Justin for getting me where I am today — speaking in front of a crowd in matching, really unflattering garments,” Lemon said.

During the ceremony, Muniz promised to keep the speech short and sweet: “Mom, dad — thank you.”
