Sharks' Kane sued by Vegas casino for $500K in gambling markers

The rivalry between Vegas and San Jose has stretched beyond the arena and into court.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Sharks forward Evander Kane has been sued by The Cosmopolitan casino for failing to pay back $500,000 worth of gambling markers lent to him back in April. The lawsuit was filed on Monday.

The 28-year-old allegedly took out eight credits — varying from $20,000 to $100,000 — on April 15, 2019.

If that date seems strange to you, it’s because it was in the middle of the playoff series between the Sharks and Golden Knights. Amid a contested battle between the two Pacific Division rivals, Kane was building up a gambling debt on the side.

According to the report, The Cosmopolitan has requested the legal fees be covered in addition to the half-million.

Last summer, Kane signed a seven-year, $49 million deal with the Sharks. Through 12 games this season, the forward has eight goals and 12 points.
