San Jose Fighters Billy Evangelista and James Terry Face Off in Strikeforce May 19

A pair of lightweights looking to bounce back from recent losses will square off in Strikeforce on May 19 as James Terry faces Billy Evangeslista in a proverbial “Battle of San Jose.”

The new bout was announced by Strikeforce officials on Wednesday.

Terry and Evangelista train out of the San Jose, Calif., area, so the home crowd should be in full force for this preliminary match-up.

James Terry, who works under former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le, will look to rebound from a loss to Nah-Shon Burrell in his last bout.

Overeall, Terry has gone 4-2 in his last six fights, but has bounced back and forth between wins and losses in his last four contests.

Meanwhile, Billy Evangelista will step into the Strikeforce cage on May 19 training out of American Kickboxing Academy, also based out of San Jose, looking to erase a two-fight losing streak.

Evangelista started out his career with an impressive undefeated record of 11-0, but he's fallen on tougher times of late dropping back-to-back fights to Jorge Masvidal and K.J. Noons.

He'll look to avoid the dreaded three-fight losing streak when he battles Terry on May 19 as part of the Strikeforce undercard that will air on Showtime Extreme.
