San Diego Wave sign Aston Villa’s midfield ace Dali

American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave have completed the signing of French international midfielder Kenza Dali from Aston Villa.

Wave announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

It has been reported that San Diego Wave have paid an undisclosed fee to secure Dali’s services from Aston Villa while the player has signed an initial two-year deal Stateside.

Dali has spent the last two-and-a-half-seasons with Aston Villa. She has made 48 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has netted seven goals. Dali has played an influential role for Aston Villa in the middle of the pitch. In her time in England, Dali has also turned out for West Ham United and Everton.

The midfielder has spent her entire career playing in Europe but she has now opted for a change.

After joining San Diego Wave, Dali said “I am so excited to be joining the San Diego Wave and to be a part of this Club and city. From the moment I started speaking with the Wave, the ambition was clear, and I am fully committed to continuing to build something special here in San Diego alongside this team.

“I’ve seen the incredible support this Club gets from its fans at Snapdragon Stadium, and it’s an honor to represent them both on and off the field. I can’t wait to step onto the field and experience it first-hand on March 22.”

Dali is the second player to leave Aston Villa in the January transfer window.
