Sabres Star's Trade Market Should Heat Up

The NHL saw one of its top trade candidates go off the board today. The Anaheim Ducks have signed Frank Vatrano to a three-year contract extension, which means the veteran forward is no longer a potential rental target for contenders.

Vatrano was one of the more interesting wingers who had been creating trade buzz. Thus, teams around the NHL will now focus their attention on other forward trade candidates, and Buffalo Sabres forward Jason Zucker could very well be one of them.

Like Vatrano, Zucker is an impactful pending UFA forward who provides solid offense. Thus, teams looking for more help in their top six or middle six could pursue Zucker as we continue to get closer to the deadline.

Zucker, 32, is also having a very good season with the Sabres. In 40 games, the 5-foot-11 forward has 15 goals, 31 points, and a plus-3 rating. With how well Zucker has fit into the Sabres' lineup, they could look to extend him. However, if he does not have an extension by the time the deadline is here, he should generate a ton of interest, especially with a comparable like Vatrano no longer available.

We will need to wait and see what happens with Zucker this season from here.
