Sabres star defenseman Owen Power had a tough night, as he was benched for the final 12 minutes and 59 seconds of the first period. This was after he made a brutal turnover in the defensive zone that led to Mika Zibanejad scoring the Rangers' first goal.

Power was very honest when asked about being benched following the game and took full responsibility for his sloppy play:

"I mean, it's pretty obvious. I make two horrible plays on that goal, and there's nothing much that really needs to be said. I know those plays are on me, and I need to accept them, so, I mean, I think it's just the accountability that we all ask for."

This is an excellent response by Power and shows that he understands why he was benched. It seems that the star is not taking the benching personally.

Power also responded in a good way on the ice after being benched, as he scored a goal and added an assist late in the third period. However, it unfortunately was not enough for the Sabres to overcome their deficit.
