Sabres Must Make Big Push For Canucks Superstar
While recently speaking to Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin stressed that while he believes in Elias Pettersson, a trade centering around the Canucks superstar is possible.

"I believe in him," Allvin said to MacIntyre. "I believe that he's capable. (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations, and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible."
This transparency from Allvin is undoubtedly interesting. If Pettersson is officially made available by the Canucks in the future, the Buffalo Sabres need to make a serious push for the star center.
While the Sabres have improved since their recent 13-game winless streak, it is abundantly clear that they should be making changes to their roster. They need a legitimate star forward, and Pettersson is just that.
Another fascinating thing about Pettersson is that he has no trade protection for his season. However, starting in 2025-26, he will have a full no-movement clause until the end of his contract in 2031-32.
The Sabres are due for a major splash, so they should seriously consider making a push for Pettersson. In 34 games this season, the 26-year-old forward has 10 goals and 28 points. This is after he had 34 goals and 89 points in 82 games last season.
