Sabres' Eichel out against Flyers with upper-body injury, snaps 17-game point streak

Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres will have his lengthy point streak snapped at 17 games.

The team captain did not play in Thursday night’s contest against the Philadelphia Flyers due to an upper-body injury, the team stated. The club did not specify how long the ailment will keep him out of the lineup.

His 17-game point streak places him in a tie with Dave Andreychuk for the second-longest run in franchise history — one contest behind Gilbert Perreault, whose 18-game point streak remains the sole mark to beat, according to Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.

Eichel's presence was certainly missed by the Sabres during the first period as the club surrendered three unanswered goals to fall behind 3-0 after 20 minutes.

On the year, the 23-year-old has notched 24 goals and 50 points across 35 games.
