Ruben Amorim unconvinced by Man United star, two big clubs on alert for transfer
It’s fair to say the young Denmark international has had a pretty torrid time since arriving at Old Trafford last season, looking nowhere near worth the kind of big money they paid to sign him from Atalanta.
According to talkSPORT, Hojlund cost as much as £72m, but he’s now attracting interest from Juventus and Napoli after failing to impress Amorim.
It remains to be seen if Hojlund can turn his Man Utd career around in the next few months, but the report suggests he’s very much on trial at the club now in a bid to save his career.
Rasmus Hojlund transfer looks like a big mistake – he needs to leave Man United
It now surely makes sense for all parties involved if Hojlund leaves United as soon as possible.
The 21-year-old has just two goals in 18 Premier League games so far this season, showing no sign of improving to be anywhere near the required standard for such an ambitious club.
United will surely continue to make changes under new manager Amorim, so Hojlund would probably do well to just accept that his chance has gone.
However, having previously done well in Italy during his time at Atalanta, it seems he’s still highly regarded there and could big opportunities from some top clubs.
Juve and Napoli could be good destinations to help Hojlund revive his career, as a number of other high-profile MUFC flops have done in recent times.
Romelu Lukaku and Jadon Sancho have been among some big names to struggle at United before improving after leaving the club, so perhaps Hojlund can do the same.
He’s still young, but United just wasn’t the right move for him and it surely makes sense for both parties to go their separate ways.
