Harry Maguire and Toby Collyer have stepped up their recovery in a bid to be available for action when Ruben Amorim moves from Lisbon to Manchester.

Manchester United still have plenty of players in the treatment room working on their recovery from injury.

The injuries have not helped United’s dismal start to the new Premier League season. The Reds suffered disappointing defeats against the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham prior to Erik ten Hag being sent his marching orders.

Sadly, the injuries from last season carried into this campaign. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have yet to make an appearance, while the same can be said for new signing Leny Yoro.

Most of the injuries have hit our defence which helps explain how we’ve conceded 12 goals in 10 games, with a goal difference of -3.

That said, the defence looks stronger than it did last season and the clean sheets prove that. Matthijs de Ligt has been a positive addition but it will take time for him to settle completely alongside Lisandro Martinez in the heart of defence.

Moreover, newly appointed head coach Ruben Amorim is expected to play three at the back. That means we are going to see changes in defence over the coming weeks/months.

In midfield, United have struggled in the absence of Kobbie Mainoo, but the 19-year-old is expected to return to full fitness after the November international break.

Incoming boss Amorim will be happy to see two first-team stars step up their recovery after a recent update posted on social media.

Harry Maguire and Toby Collyer have been missing from training in recent weeks after suffering respective injuries.

Collyer, 20, has not made an appearance for United since the 7-0 win over Barnsley in the League Cup third round.

Both are now close to being integrated back into the first team.

Maguire posted a story on Instagram on Saturday showing the duo training together on exercise bikes at Carrington.

The England centre-back tagged Collyer as his ‘rehab partner’ in the post and stated they would be ‘back soon’.

Maguire has been inured since last month’s goalless draw against Aston Villa.

The pair will be aiming to get back to training soon to impress Amorim.

United are in action today when they host Leicester City in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as interim boss.
