Bergamanis, who hails from Riga, Latvia, spent the past three seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. In 31 games this past season, he had two goals and 17 assists for 19 points. Over the course of 99 career NCAA games, he has scored six goals and added 32 assists for 38 points.
"Arvils Bergmanis brings a wealth of experience to our program, having competed at a high level for three years in college hockey," said RPI's head coach Dave Smith in the team's press release. "His time with the Latvian men's national team, where he faced off against some of the world's best teams, further demonstrates his ability to perform under pressure."
With Bergmanis now an Engineer, the team adds a solid veteran defender who will be capable of contributing at both ends of the ice. He showed his offensive prowess last season and if he can replicate that, the Engineers will be that much more dangerous.
