Royals' Cole Reschny: "Tough Night" In Return To Action

It was not the "Heroes Welcome" Victoria Royals star Cole Reschny may have wanted in his first game back.

The Royals continued their road trip on Wednesday with a stop in Edmonton to face the Oil Kings, and were ultimately met with a 5-1 defeat. Reschny commented on the team's start and how it affected their performance.

"Yeah, it was a tough tough night for us, myself included. I don't think we showed up ready. I don't think we had enough effort there, and ultimately at the end of the night we weren't good enough."

He continued, saying he felt fine in his return and will bounce back on Friday.

Ranked an "A" level prospect by NHL Central Scouting in October, the Victoria prospect had little to no rust to shake off and made a few opportunities for himself as well as his linemates. Although he didn't get on the scoresheet, going into Wednesday night's contest with 26 points in 19 games this season shows that finding the back of the net (or helping his team to do so) is no concern.

Looking ahead to his nomination to the Team CHL roster for the CHL-USA Challenge in London, Ont. Reschny remarked "Yeah, it's very special. I mean, just seeing my name on that list on that team is definitely an honor. It's once in a lifetime opportunity, so I'm going to take advantage of that. You know it's going to be competitive, it's going to be a hard to game, so just go in there and play as a team. I'm showing my skill and my game and what I can do to show the scouts who I am as a player."

In the short term, Victoria has two more games on their trek across Alberta, with stops in Calgary and Red Deer while completing the road trip with a matchup in Everett on November 27.

Reschny commented on how his team can be better going forward, noting the return to coach's systems and making sure they come out hot.
