Roy Hodgson is waiting to hear whether Crystal Palace want to keep him on as manager next season.

The 75-year-old comfortably guided Palace to safety after returning to Selhurst Park on a short-term contract following the sacking of Patrick Vieira in March.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is assessing his options, which include sticking with Hodgson next season.

Hodgson himself has been coy on whether he would like to stay on, but it is felt he would be open to a one-year extension if he was offered it.

Paddy McCarthy, who was Palace Under-21s boss before moving up to the first team following the departure of Vieira, has been mooted as a possible candidate for the permanent job and, it has been suggested, could learn the ropes under Hodgson next season.

Palace finished 11th in the Premier League under Hodgson after signing off with a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season on Sunday.
