Rovers add Forshaw after Argyle exit

Blackburn Rovers have signed former Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw until the end of the season.

The move comes after the 33-year-old's contract at Plymouth Argyle was terminated early.

Rovers sit seventh in the Championship table, a point outside the play-off places, with a game in hand to come against struggling Portsmouth.

Forshaw becomes the second new signing at Ewood Park in 24 hours after defender Dion Sanderson arrived on loan from Birmingham on Friday.

Forshaw has made more than 350 career appearances and earned promotion to the top-flight twice after coming through the ranks at Everton, making his Premier League debut in 2010-11.

After a loan spell with Brentford he joined the Bees on a permanent basis in 2012, making 100 appearances and helping the club earn promotion to the Championship in 2014, also being named League One Player of the Year.

Following a short spell at Wigan, Forshaw helped Middlesbrough to promotion to the Premier League in 2016, joining Leeds two years later for a reported £4.5m.

He helped the Whites earn promotion from the Championship in 2021 and made 22 Premier League appearances the following season.

He joined Norwich in August 2023 before moving to Plymouth last January, making 29 appearances in total for the Greens and helping Argyle stay in the second-tier last season.
