ROSSONERE NARROWLY DEFEATED BY ROMA: 2-1

ROSSONERE NARROWLY DEFEATED BY ROMA: 2-1
ROSSONERE NARROWLY DEFEATED BY ROMA: 2-1

The Rossonere's winning streak ends at three. At Tre Fontane, they suffered a bitter defeat after a good performance on a difficult pitch against a top-level opponent, as Roma came back to win 2-1 in Matchday 7. Following an almost immediate lead by Evelyn Ijeh, who scored again after her match-winning goal against Sampdoria, Giugliano and Giacinti responded with goals in both halves. The match was balanced and intense, with two individual efforts deciding the outcome in favour of the Giallorosse, who are now ahead of the Rossonere in the standings.

The result stings, and there are some regrets, but there are several positive takeaways and convictions for Coach Bakker's girls to build upon. AC Milan followed their game plan for the full ninety minutes and stayed in the match until the final moments, yet they couldn't find the decisive spark to equalise. The journey is still long, and the future looks promising; they must not lower their standards. Now there's a break, which is ideal for recharging their batteries, although it delays the chance to return to the pitch and seek redemption. Upon their return, they will meet at PUMA House of Football, where the Rossonere will host Sassuolo on Sunday, 3 November.

MATCH REPORT
The Rossonere made a fast start, taking the lead in the fifth minute when Ijeh exchanged passes with Renzotti and curled a right-foot shot into the corner to make it 1-0 for AC Milan. Roma quickly responded, with Giacinti sending a lob just over the bar in the sixth minute, followed by Pilgrim's attempt from the edge of the box that hit the crossbar in the ninth. In the twelfth minute, Giugliano forced Giuliani into action with a powerful, central shot, but the Rossonere held firm under pressure. However, in the 22nd minute, after a period of stalemate, Giugliano found the net. Minami laid it back for her, and Giugliano's right-foot shot nestled in the top corner, bringing the score to 1-1. The remainder of the half saw a balanced contest with few chances. In stoppage time, Dragoni squandered a good opportunity, leaving the teams level at halftime.

The Rossonere approached the second half positively. In the 46th minute, Nadim's curling left-foot shot went wide. Between the 54th and 55th minutes, Dompig posed a threat to Ceasar, first with a volley that was saved in two attempts, then with an inaccurate right-foot shot from inside the box. AC Milan continued to press, with a cross from Dompig leading to a header from Nadim that narrowly missed in the 58th minute. Roma responded in the 64th minute with a left-foot shot from Haavi that was on target but weak, easily gathered by Giuliani. The match remained tense, but in the 75th minute, the Giallorosse found the net to make it 2-1. Viens advanced down the left flank and delivered a cross, which Giacinti headed towards the far post to score. AC Milan pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Roma had more energy, with Troelsgaard and Greggi missing opportunities to seal the win in the closing moments. The match ended 2-1
