Roma owners plan January revolution: Dybala and summer signings can leave
Dan and Ryan Friedkin are reportedly planning wholesale changes to the Giallorossi playing staff and senior management structure after a dismal start to the 2024-25 Serie A season, which has left the team in 12th place after the 2-0 loss to Como on Sunday.
Roma have endured their worst ever start to a Serie A campaign in the three-point era, with just 16 recorded from 16 matches played so far this term. The Giallorossi have not started a campaign worse since the 1992-93 season, over 30 years ago.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the appointment of a new CEO is the biggest priority at the Stadio Olimpico. The club has been without a chief executive since the resignation of Lina Souloukou in September.
Which Roma players are at risk in January?
There could also be a rejuvenation of the playing staff, according to Monday’s report.
Few players are safe from the chopping block, as the likes of Bryan Cristante, Lorenzo Pelegrini, Gianluca Mancini, Leandro Paredes, Stephan El Shaarawy, Mario Hermoso, Zeki Celik Nicola Zalewski and even Paulo Dybala could be moved on if an appropriate offer comes in.
Most damningly is Enzo Le Fee, who could also be sold in January, despite having only joined the club on a permanent deal in the summer.
The issue is, that the aforementioned players aside from Zalewski are all on relatively hefty contracts, which makes finding a potential suitor a difficult task.
Who could Roma bring in?
There are several names already being linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico ahead of the summer transfer window.
Among them is Napoli forward and Italy international Giacomo Raspadori, who is currently struggling for game time under Antonio Conte.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also suggests that Everton and former Udinese striker Beto could be a low-cost option to strengthen the club’s attacking department.
Ajax right-back and two-time Netherlands international Devyne Rensch has also been mentioned as a possible option to solve Roma’s long-standing right-back issue.
Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz, who was also linked with a move to Inter last week, could also be an option to bolster Claudio Ranieri’s midfield unit.
