Roma owners Friedkin family shock Everton with sudden firing
Roma owners the Friedkin family have been criticised for going through four coaches in 2024, but incredibly sacked Everton manager Sean Dyche three hours before a big match.
The American patrons brought a very different style of running a football club to Serie A and this has seen them clash repeatedly with the supporters.
However, nothing done at Roma seems to compare with the action taken at their other club Everton in the Premier League this evening.
A formal statement announced that manager Dyche had been fired just three hours before tonight’s FA Cup tie against Peterborough.
Dyche held the usual training session on Thursday morning and was formally relieved of his duties at 16.34.
Friedkin family not new to shock decisions
Roma fans and local media have been critical of the way that the Friedkin family chopped and changed in 2024, sacking Jose Mourinho in January, Daniele De Rossi in September and Ivan Juric in November to bring some stability until the end of the season with Claudio Ranieri.
While some reports suggested Mourinho could be in line for the Everton job, that seems improbable considering they fired him under a year ago at Roma.
Paulo Fonseca, sacked by Milan less than two weeks ago, is another of the potential candidates for the Toffees.
