Roma Offered Inter Milan Swap Deal Involving Italy Stars Following Training Ground Bust-up
Roma have reportedly attempted to pull off a swap deal with Inter Milan, offering the services of Bryan Cristante in exchange for Davide Frattesi.
The Italian capital side is enduring a forgettable start to the season. They settled for a goalless draw in Cagliari on the opening day.
Last weekend, they succumbed to a shocking defeat at the hands of Empoli in front of their home supporters.
To make matters even worse for the Giallorossi, news sources in Italy reported a training ground bust-up between head coach Daniele De Rossi and Cristante.
The two men almost came to blows, and had to be separated by members of the squad.
So according to Il Corriere della Sera via FcInter1908, Roma tried to offload the Italy midfielder by offering him as an exchange pawn for Frattesi.
The latter is a Roman native who came through the Giallorossi’s youth ranks before making a name for himself at Sassuolo.
Nevertheless, Inter immediately rejected the offer, as they have no intentions to part ways with Frattesi.
Inter Milan Turn Down Roma Offer To Exchange Davide Frattesi With Bryan Cristante
The 24-year-old signed for the Nerazzurri last summer on a deal worth circa 32 million euros.
Although he couldn’t cement himself as a regular starter, the Italy international proved to be a super-sub on several occasions. He displayed a knack for scoring last-gasp winners, with the most famous coming against Hellas Verona last January.
This season, he has thus far made two appearances off the bench. He provided the assist for Marcus Thuram’s second goal on the Serie A opener against Genoa.
Therefore, Inter consider the midfielder an important member of the squad, and therefore unsellable.
Frattesi’s contract with the Italian champions is valid until June 2028.
