Roma challenge Leicester City for Juventus starlet Soule

Reports in Argentina suggest that Leicester City face strong competition from Roma for Juventus winger Matias Soulé, as both are offering €25m.

The 21-year-old spent the last season on loan at Frosinone, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 36 Serie A games.

He is on the market so that Juve can raise the funds to purchase Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, which will cost over €50m.

Soulé in a Roma-Leicester City tussle

The asking price for Soulé is €35-40m and so far Leicester City are the favourites after offering €25m plus a reported €5m in bonuses.

However, according to Argentine sports reporter Cesar Luis Merlo, they face very strong competition from Roma, who are making a similar proposal.

There was also interest in the Premier League from West Ham United and Aston Villa.

Soulé moved to Juventus in January 2020 from the Velez Sarsfield academy and worked his way up the various youth levels, until the loan to Frosinone last summer.

His contract runs to June 2026.
