Rodrigo Riquelme waits for Roma, Giallorossi shift focus on Federico Chiesa

Atletico Madrid star Rodrigo Riquelme is waiting to hear back from Roma after the Giallorossi showed interest in him a few weeks ago.

The 24-year-old Spanish winger represents Roma’s main alternative to their top target for the summer – Federico Chiesa.

With Chiesa off to the Euros, Roma shifted their focus to Riquelme and held talks with the Spaniard’s agent.

However, the capital club’s plans could soon change seeing as Chiesa’s Euro tournament came to a crashing end with Italy’s recent loss to Switzerland in the Round of 16.

With Chiesa expected back in Italy to discuss his future with Juventus and his agent, Roma are likely to suspend their interest in Riquelme.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Riquelme is still waiting for Roma although the player will soon be involved in the Olympics with Spain which will derail any further negotiations before the end of the summer.
