Rocket Head Coach Pascal Vincent Won't Accept Passengers

The Montreal Canadiens' farm team Laval Rocket had a great start to their season but they've been experiencing turbulences in the last few weeks. Last night, they lost 3-1 to the Rochester Americans who are chasing them in the standings.

Jared Davidson was the only Rocket player to find the back of the net with an assist from Riley Kidney early in the first frame, but it was the only lead the would get. In the second frame, the Americans scored three unanswered goals and Laval was unable to get another puck past Devon Levi on the night.

The Dollar-des-Ormeaux native has now won five straight games in the AHL and has a .956 save percentage and a 0.99 goals against average during that span. A far cry from his 3.95 GAA and .870 SP in seven starts in the NHL.

The Rocket took six minor penalties last night, including two for defenseman Adam Engstrom. After the game, bench boss Pascal Vincent was unimpressed with his team's performance:

We're going to have bad performances throughout the season, it happens, but I don't have to accept it.

The coach mentioned there were too many passengers during that game and that he could have sat many of his players. In the third period, as they were trying to catch up on the scoreboard, the Rocket went nine minutes without even getting a shot on net.

Laval was playing without Jakub Dobes who's still nursing an injury meaning Connor Hughes got the nod once again, but the loss wasn't on him. Tough guy Vincent Arseneau who was dealing with an illness wasn't in the line-up, meaning Sean Farrell was centering Luke Tuch and Florian Xhekaj.

It will be interesting to see how they bounce back from that performance and from their coach's comments.
