Robbie Gould expects big game from Bears QB Caleb Williams vs. Packers

Closing out the season against the rival Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears have nothing serious to play for but plenty they can look to build on heading into the 2025 season. The biggest storyline will be rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who has thrown for over 3,300 yards and 19 touchdowns in his first season, a miserable for one the team, but very respectable one for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Set to close out the season in enemy territory, Williams will get his first chance to experience Lambeau Field, and the Bears-Packers rivalry being hosted in Green Bay, Wis. Fans are sure to let him and the team have it throughout the game with their heckling, but one former Bear believes that the rookie quarterback will close the season out on a high note, eclipsing the 20 passing touchdown mark in his first year in the NFL.

Making his weekly appearance on Marquee Sports Network, former Bears kicker Robbie Gould believes Williams, who has four games of two or more passing touchdowns this season, will have a good game against the Packers on Sunday.

"In order to beat them, if you watch what they did against the [Minnesota] Vikings this past weekend, the Vikings had to throw the football and throw it efficiently," Gould said. "Caleb has been able to throw the football for multiple in touchdowns, in four-plus games. I think he joins the club of 20+ touchdowns and I think he has a big game this weekend."

Giving up an average of just under 220 passing yards per game, the Packers defense only allows 100 rushing yards per game, making it clear where the Bears will have to attack if they want a chance to win. In their first meeting this season, Williams threw for 231 yards but had no touchdown passes or turnovers in the game. After a 6-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17, it would be quite the turnaround and positive ending to see Williams reach the end zone and have a good passing game against a bitter rival who is preparing for their own postseason run.
