Rimouski Océanic captain Jacob Mathieu's overage season has gone swimmingly so far, scoring at a career-high pace and also scoring a commitment to the NCAA's Northeastern Huskies for the 2025-26 season.

Mathieu, 20, has 49 points (31+18) over 41 games this season.

He becomes the Huskies' first QMJHL commitment, and the Océanic's second following Jonathan Fauchon -- whose commitment to Providence broke last month.

Drafted by the Océanic in the third round of the 2021 draft, Mathieu has spent the last five seasons with the team, amassing 184 points (106+78) over 232 games so far. He'll look to cap of his final season of junior hockey with a Memorial Cup, as the Océanic are the tournament's host.
