Richard Sherman explains what Pete Carroll would bring to Bears
A new report has a deeper link to former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and his interest in the Chicago Bears' head coaching vacancy.
Earlier in the week, it was reported that Carroll has interest in the Bears' head coaching vacancy. On Thursday night, NFL insider Albert Bree it was reported there is mutual interest between Chicago and Carroll.
Before Thursday night's game between the Bears and Seahawks, former legendary Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman spoke glowingly of his former head coach. Sherman played with Carroll from 2011 to 2017, where he won a Super Bowl, was named a first-team All-Pro three times, and led the NFL in interceptions in 2013.
Sherman was asked by the set what Carroll would bring to Chicago, and he mentioned many traits that have been missing in recent Bears' history.
"He would bring culture. He would bring stability," Sherman said of his former coach. "He'd bring a developmental aspect to them. He's a coach that can literally get the best out of whatever his players do well. You talk about quarterbacks, he doesn't need world-beaters quarterback, he has a young guy, he knows what he does well and what he doesn't well, he'll put them in situations like he did with Russell Wilson, like he did with Geno Smith....he puts them in the best positions possible to maximize their potential, that's what he'd bring to Chicago.
"I think he's a great defensive coach, but he's also a great culture builder, I think a lot of the coaches look for a lot of things he did well to insert into their coaching philosophy."

There are not many players who know Carroll like Sherman, and his analysis on his former head coach is not only a glowing review of him, but addresses quite a few needs in Chicago. The emphasis on culture and stability within the locker room is a necessity that must be addressed this offseason. And Carroll's long history of success in the NFL and college level could make him a serious candidate for the Bears head coaching job.
