As the New Year quickly approaches, what better time to look at the five stories that drew in the greatest response from you all.

5. Former first rounder Jakub Zboril signs in Czechia

After many years of hacking it out trying to find an NHL role, and unfortunately many injuries, we wrote a story on former Saint John Sea Dogs blueliner Jakub Zboril signing a deal in Czechia with Dynamo Pardubice. On the bright side? He's up to six points (1+5) over 12 games this season.

This article tracked the NHL camp invites following the completion of the 2024 NHL draft. Of them, most did not sign -- with the notable signee being Sherbrooke's Israel Mianscum to the Laval Rocket. Montreal's farm system.

3. Mikus Vecvanags import draft saga

Another massive story this year was Mikus Vecvanags tumultuous summer. After getting selected by the Montréal Canadiens, a member of the Habs staff told reporters he was headed to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Although, he wasn't drafted by them and had to pass through the import draft first. A few picks ahead, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan snagged him up and he never reported to them -- opting to head to the BCHL's Brooks Bandits. Thankfully, it all seemed to have worked out as he just signed with the Titan this month.

2. Jakob Pelletier RFA holdout

Perhaps not the story that you might've expected so high, but there was a point in time this off-season that former Moncton Wildcat and Val-d'Or Foreur Jakob Pelletier's time in Calgary was in limbo. It was unclear whether the team had a real NHL spot for him and he seemed on the cusp of finally becoming an NHL regular. Well, he would eventually sign and get sent down to the minors, but he had been quite effective in his 10 games with the Flames, scoring four points (1+3).

1. Acadie-Bathurst Titan sale and relocation to Newfoundland
