Revealed – Why Argentina U20 Star’s Move To Inter Milan Delayed After Medical Completed
Defender Tomas Palacios will not complete his move to Inter Milan today due to the final bureaucratic details between the clubs.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 21-year-old has completed his medicals, but that there is still a bit more paperwork left to go.
Today, Argentina Under-20 international defender Palacios underwent his medicals ahead of a move to Inter.
The 21-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri have settled on as their defensive reinforcement for this summer.
The negotiations have been ongoing between Inter, Talleres, and Independiente Rivadivia for a couple weeks now.
The ownership situation of Palacios presented a bit of a hurdle in negotiations.
The issue concerned the fact that the 21-year-old had been on loan at Rivadivia from Talleres. But Rivadivia had a purchase option at the end of December when the loan deal expires.
Therefore, the two Argentine clubs have worked out a structure on a deal among themselves. This would allow both to receive compensation from Inter for Palacios’s transfer.
Tomas Palacios Move To Inter Milan Held Up Temporarily As Paperwork Finalized
For their part, Inter are reportedly ready to pay a total fee of around €6.5 million plus €4.5 million in add-ons to sign Palacios.
Reportedly, a sell-on percentage was also key to working out a transfer between all three clubs.
Sky confirm that everything is virtually in place.
Not least because on the player’s end, Palacios has undergone his medicals and gotten all the bureaucratic details such as obtaining a work permit out of the way.
Palacios is all ready to sign a five-year contract and become an Inter player.
However, Sky report, there are still a couple hitches remaining in the agreement between Inter, Rivadivia, and Talleres.
Therefore, Palacios will not complete the transfer today. It will be another day or two before the Argentine officially becomes an Inter player.
