Nicolo Barella could be back from injury in Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Roma after the October international break.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 27-year-old will almost certainly miss the Nerazzurri’s next three matches with a thigh strain.

Inter midfielder Barella has suffered a thigh strain.

The Nerazzurri confirmed the injury for the Italian international. He underwent tests with the club’s medical staff today.

Barella had initially picked up the problem during the derby against AC Milan on Sunday.

The former Cagliari midfielder had started that match. But he had to come off as a substitute, with coach Simone Inzaghi later confirming that this change was necessary due to injury.

The hope was that the problem for Barella was nothing more than a bit of fatigue.

Today, though, the Italian international was not able to shake off the problem and train.

Therefore, Barella underwent the medical tests. These showed that he had suffered a strain to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh.

Nicolo Barella Likely To Return For Inter In Roma Clash

Barella will certainly miss Inter’s next couple of matches.

The Nerazzurri travel to Friuli to take on Udinese in Serie A on Saturday afternoon.

And then, next week, Inter play their second Champions League match of the campaign. They host Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.

Inter’s last match before the October break is the following weekend against Torino.

Then the Nerazzurri will be out of action for two weeks. They return on October 20th, travelling to the Italian capital to face Roma.

And according to Sky, Barella is likely to be ready for that match against the Giallorossi.

However, a return prior to then is unlikely for Barella.

The 27-year-old will miss the matches against Udinese, Red Star, and Torino.
