Revealed: Real Madrid’s Developmental Plan for £37.3M-Rated Liverpool, PSG Transfer Target
In October, it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain have made River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono their top transfer target, with plans to trigger his €40 million release clause.
However, this fee could rise to €45 million in the final ten days of the transfer window. While PSG are interested, Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos noted that Manchester United are also closely monitoring the young Argentine.
Other major European clubs, including Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, are said to be keeping an eye on Mastantuono as well. ESPN Argentina further added that Manchester United seem particularly determined to sign the teenager and are preparing to make a bid in January.
What Real Madrid’s plan is for Franco Mastantuono
The transfer race for Mastantuono is far from over, but Diario AS has already revealed what Real Madrid intend to do with the player should he beat out the competition for his signature.
“The plan for Madrid with Mastantuono already included [Arda] Güler’s presence, and if he signs, the intention is most likely for him to be loaned out for at least one year, which was the plan for the Turkish player, but Güler didn’t want that.”
According to Defensa Central, Liverpool are ready to activate Mastantuono’s £37.3 million release clause at River Plate in a bid to outpace Real Madrid for his signature.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported last month that a Barcelona scout was at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires watching Mastantuono in the Copa Libertadores, which would have been River Plate’s semifinal second-leg contest on Oct. 29 against Atletico Miniero.
This 2024 season, Mastantuono has made 41 appearances across all competitions for River Plate, scoring four goals and recording three assists.
